I was working in this project last year, a friend gave me the idea and I started working on it. The idea is to create a bitcoin map with prices, and where bitcoin is more expansive it would be red and greener/cyan where it is cheaper than the reference price (USD) Data would be collected in international exchanges like binance, bitstamp, etc and local exchanges. I was thinking this could be interesting because users could contribute as well, with translations and adding good price references for each country (where I don't know where to get the data, as you can see I still have half the world to fill). What do you guys think about such project? Do you see any use for it? And what kind of data and tools could I add to it, to enhance the project and make it more useful? My last commit in this project was more than 6 months ago, I am considering if I work on it again. Thanks for @examplens who is sharing his server with me, this is where I keep my database of this project.

This is really interesting, I wouldn't have expected there to be such a spread based on geographical location. If it actually is the case, it seems like a really cool way to visualise political/economic pressure on bitcoin around the world - and also even arbitrage opportunities, so definitely seems to be useful/worth-having. Showing the heat map over time would also be neat (historical data). It'd be a bit more complex - but you could also pull data from p2p marketplaces, and show the difference between exchange prices and p2p prices for each region. Really cool project!

Yeah, that is a good table and I got some information from there and coingecko. Howerver, not all information is correct and this website also doesn't contain all information. I couldn't find a Chinese pair there (in a quick look). Also, the CMC says that bitmart accepts BRL, which is false. I just looked at their API and it is not there. The same for OKX and RUB. Just one example of a wrong information. https://api-cloud.bitmart.com/spot/quotation/v3/tickers https://www.okx.com/api/v5/market/ticker?instId=BTC-RUB So, this $5 bot won't solve the problem, maybe it will add a few more countries but not all. Honestly a really cool idea. No idea if there is a real use-case, but def. fun to look at!
Thanks. it looks even better in an interactive website. I will probably put it online soon to share.

I don't know if any one solution will get you everything. You might have to combine several different methods. When I was building BPIP history recently, I had to go to several different archive sites to get various dates.

Maybe this is where user submissions can help. You can use the bot to add the list, and users can verify or add the data. If it's easy enough to do that, I'd imagine people would contribute to it sooner or later. Just add a disclaimer that the data can be inaccurate or something similar.

What do you guys think about such project? Do you see any use for it?
Yes, there's definitely a use for it [arbitrage (previously mentioned by @askii)]... It reminded me of an " older alternative" that was somewhat successful, but its developer decided to focus on other projects. and adding good price references for each country (where I don't know where to get the data, as you can see I still have half the world to fill).
I can't think of a good API that has that kind of data, but if you're fine with going the manual route, the following platform shows the countries or rather headquarters locations: - blockspot- cryptowisser- coinlibAnd what kind of data and tools could I add to it, to enhance the project and make it more useful?
A browser-based notification for hitting a certain price on certain exchanges would be nice.

Interesting, but i believe that to make it unique and more useful, you should add something like "Opportunity Score" for each region, calculated based on price + liquidity + political risk and other factors...

Do you plan to register a new domain for it, or will you also add this to bitcoindata.science? In any case, I have already increased the number of add-on domains and the number of databases on your dashboard, if necessary. Just in case.

It's fun!
1. If you wanna use btc.global as a url, I think it's taken but it's for sale! 2. How do you get the reference price in USD? And how do you get the exchange rates for other FIAT currencies?

I will get some bitcoinprice.global or some variation. I am also working on with a potential partner, who might even use bitcoinglobal.partner.com (lets see if it works) USD price reference is binance, and i get exchange rates from EU Central bank API.

It's cool, I like the bitcoinprice.global idea. By the way, my country is green, but it surprises me that bitcoin is sold at different prices in the same platforms. Or perhaps I don't get it correctly, so I beg your pardon. Is there a chance that bitcoin is sold at different prices in Binance in Japan versus in Binance in Australia?

Which is your country? Countries where binance is available, i get the price from binance. There is no difference in price within binance, as people make all arbitrage possible using USDT pairs... Japan from binance, and Australia from Kraken, in my app
Can anyone suggest and exchange from russia and china?

I am from Greece but, lately I live in another European green country, not for too long I hope! Countries where binance is available, i get the price from binance. There is no difference in price within binance, as people make all arbitrage possible using USDT pairs...

Ok, got it. It makes more sense this way. So if in a country there are 5 available exchanges, you choose the cheapest one.

Ok, got it. It makes more sense this way. So if in a country there are 5 available exchanges, you choose the cheapest one. I choose the exchange with most volume (or enough volume) About Greece... every country which uses EUR will have the same color and price reference.
