I deeply regret using Bybit and strongly warn others to avoid it. My account has been temporarily restricted for no valid reason, even though I’ve provided all necessary documents to verify my funds and activities.

Even worse? Their support team has completely stopped responding to my emails.

To add to the concern, Bybit was hacked on March 9th, and ever since, they have completely stopped withdrawals for me and more than 8 of my friends. And there are lot of similar reports on trustpilot.

Before this, I had no issues withdrawing. Now, my funds are effectively being held hostage.

The fact that exchanges regularly block accounts of participants for violating the rules is not news. I would like to know what is the reason for blocking your account on the Bybit exchange, which was indicated by support.

For reference: Bybit exchange was hacked on February 21, not March 9, as you point out.

Many has been warned to stay clear from centralized exchanges because your funds are not safe there. They could manipulate the system and make you lose your money, giving you excuses since they have your private key which makes you vulnerable.
You can use centralized exchanges for trading but never leave your money there for too long, you might lose everything just like this kind of complains. I feel your pain bro and I hope everyone will learn from your mistake!

I predict Bybit is secretly not fine at all and will eventually go bankrupt. Maybe not as dramatically as FTX did (they had an utter moron of a CEO who wouldn't stop yapping about his company's finances on Twitter), but still bankrupt.

I don't think there is any chance that Bybit are operating as normal after losing that amount of money to that hack, yeah, they didn't collapse then, they got support from other industry players and they allowed most customers to withdraw their funds, but after losing that amount, isn't it only a matter of time before they become insolvent.

OP, there is nothing any of us can do for you, not your keys, not your coins, you have to continue pressing them to see if they will unfreeze your funds, and as for people who still store their funds in Bybit, beware.

There is a lot of information about this, that exchanges should be used for trading, rather than storing their cryptocurrencies. But if someone, despite these warnings, still uses exchanges to store their coins, they should be aware of the risks and be responsible for the loss of their deposit.

I don't think there's even a single centralized exchange that hasn't blocked a withdrawal. Even before your case happened, Bybit must have done it already. Even before the hack took place, I'm sure Bybit has already blocked a withdrawal.

In which case, all of these centralized exchanges are waving huge red flags, and yet people continued to use them. When it's finally their turn to become victims, they cry hard and call for a revolution. I'm sure they knew beforehand that not their keys, not their coins.

Anyway, it has been just more than a month since the hack happened, the largest theft in history. Bybit didn't even suspend withdrawal. As a result, a surge of withdrawal immediately followed, further draining Bybit of available funds. Although several exchanges provided Bybit huge loans to remain solvent, I'm sure they're still running out of funds. Stealing from their users may be one way to recoup losses.

Sorry about that. It's becoming more annoying daily with the many bad reviews being read about Bybit these days. This started after it was hacked and $1.5 stolen. Could it be that the exchange is trying to get the stolen funds back from the money of people after taking some risks to make the money? This is so unfortunate, and I urge you guys to continue to call the exchange out on every channel possible, this will certainly reduce their credibility in the sight of people and dissuade many more to be a victim.

I don't think they are going to confiscate and steal customer funds worth $1.5 billion dollars, which is the amount they lost to the hackers, in the largest crypto theft till date. However, i believe they have become stricter since the hack and they are going to confiscate funds for insignificant reasons to try and recoup as much money as possible.

This makes no sense. First, what has their stolen money got to do with being strict with their customers if they don't have an ulterior motive? Will Lazarus Group come back to bank with them when there are DEXs to warrant being strict? Are there no other CEXs too?

Again, gaining their money back does mean they will start confiscating people's money until that sum stolen is complete. Who would remain? They will only ensure some illegal and cheating styles to rob people of their money. It's not new for businesses, especially exchanges, everyone is an unwarranted suspect just to seize the funds, how convenient is that? And if you can't prove the source, it's gone forever. Those who can prove it might be stressed for months before releasing it, while some would be released bit by bit.

Nowadays, we've seen exchanges getting hacked, and we have no choice but to trust them. Recently, Bybit was hacked for $1.5B, and who knows how much a smaller exchange like XeggeX lost. I think we need a transparent exchange that can solve these problems. There are swaps available, but most of them don’t include newer coins.

Of course you do have a choice, you shouldn't trust centralized exchanges, your funds should only be stored in your self custodial wallet and be responsible for your own funds. Oh, yes, you got the gist better, aside from the harassment and a deliberate plan they might have to steal their customer's funds through vices like this.

Let's look at it this way: thieves came to rob a bank and successfully took the money away. Perhaps due to one measure or another, the banks started seeing the money in the hands of other customers paying into the bank. Are those customers liable again, especially when the same money can be traced to thousands of customers in just a week?

Money spreads every day, and that same money stolen may be seen in other states that are more than 500 km from the scene of the robbery. So, of course, innocent people will be harrassed just because it's Bybit.

Centralised exchanges are locking accounts nowadays, but how could they block an account without any reason? Bybit is one of the popular exchanges; they should show the valid reasons before locking an account. This behaviour isn't really accepted from such an exchange. They really don't have the right to block our funds. Even if they don't want to allow using their exchange, they should enable withdrawal. Binance did the same for me, and they showed me the reason why they are blocking my account.

However, CEX are no more safe to store our funds. We have a lot of history about CEX behaviour nowadays.

Ever since I heard of ByBit I have associated their name with selective scamming because that was the main concern people stated when I was looking for reviews. I certainly cannot recommend ByBit to anybody and feel sorry you find yourself in this predicament. If they stopped responding to your emails it is a major red flag.

They probably have blocked funds before but the frequnecy with which the blocks are happening after the hack has increased if you look across different forums and social media channels. For example, how many complaints about blocked Bybit withdrawals have you seen in this forum before bybit was hacked vs. after?
