[TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+)

Features:

- Mention/quote notification (with and without @)


- Merit notification


- Topic tracking with notifications (gif).

- Ignore members, boards, or topics so you don't get notifications from them.

Commands:

/start - to start the bot or unstuck it if anything happens.
/menu - shows the cool menu.
/alt X - set an alternative username.
/setMerit X - corrects your cached merit count.
/minPosts X - minimum of posts a user should have to trigger you a notification for new topics (to avoid spammers).
/length X - number of characters for the post preview in the notification.




Group chats:

The bot now supports group chats! Just add the bot and run /start once. As usual, you can always get the menu by sending /menu.

Only admins can make changes and interact with the bot (other users can see the menu and read the notifications, of course).

Besides mentions and merits (disabled for group chats), you can do anything the bot normally allows you to do:
- Add tracked topics, phrases, boards, users.
- Ignore topics, users.

IIRC, you said that the bot was still in Beta testing? I think I saw that yesterday. I'll be testing it for sure, but I have a couple of questions.

-What's the frequency of the scrapping? giammangiato's is 5 minutes for merits and 1 for quotes; and it sometimes takes a lot longer to do so.

Yes, it was in beta test for ~1 week for some users in my local board (Portuguese). We found out a bunch of bugs and now I believe the bot is pretty stable and working fine.

Mentions/quotes every 5 seconds.
Merits every 25 seconds with a delay per each user. edit: increased to 30 seconds + 5 seconds  per user.

I tested and it's quite faster than the one from giammangiato (noticed 1 min VS 30 min merit notification with few users, besides the complete merit information). Not that it matters a lot (no competition here), but it's still nice.

It is. I will take a look at this. For the immediate now, try to write your name exactly as it is (if you make a mistake, just /start again).

edit 2: Fixed! Changed to be case insensitive and everything should be ok now.

It looks like very interesting because there are too many features than the other one, I also subscribed and I saw that there are four languages available not only the foreign language (English). English, France, Espaniol, and Brazillian Portuguese(is this right?)

Can I request our local language too? (Philippines) if possible.

Filipino is now available thanks to @sheenshane. You can change the language with /language or by selecting it in the menu.

I thought about adding something like this but before I did anything, I found this bot by GreatArkansas which already does that. My bot is more about notifying things in real time rather than giving a lot of stats, and I believe his bot suits well for its purpose. Maybe in the future, depending on which new features I think about or people suggest, but for now, his bot already does the job.

Thanks! I'm paying everything from my own pocket since I have a passion for programming and coding stuff people actually use. I sure have some dopamine hits whenever I see the numbers increasing in the db. I already have the server payed for a whole year and there are no issues with money as of now, so no worries. Thanks though.

Also, can I ask a what language did you use for this bot?

I made it with Node and Postgres. The post archive website was made with React.

Small letters, yes. The bot is now case insensitive. But if someone writes your name with a space, you do not get a notification. I will add a way of adding alternative names later today so you can do that. Thanks.

It’s the bot I use to test and develop new features. I will probably create another one with a more disguised name.

I think it is better before to qualify into your UID there is a verification first if on the bitcointalk name if its already listed on the database.
Because I try to use my name Peanutswar with UID which is correct and approved by the bot. When I try this with different username but the same UID it proceeds on the main menu and accepts it.

This is responsive bot so every input by the user there is a specific response on it. I just want to suggest that even there is a button for enable notifications/mentions and enable merits. It is better if the bot is still responsive on the input of the user if they chat "Enable Mentions", "Enable Merits" (even in lower or uppercase)

Ps. This is just my suggestion only in case of having enhancement of the notification bot.

That's because the bot doesn't do any verification. Right now it's up to the user to check if he entered the right username and UID. The bot even links the profile (with the UID) when the user enters it so he can check if it's leading to his profile. You can also just /start again if you enter the wrong username/UID.

Sure, will probably add something like this. Currently, the bot only listens to the commands shown in the OP or the messages you send when selecting an option in the menu. Anything else gives this message.

Subscribed thanks for this @TryNinja. Waiting for some quotes and merits to pop up to see how it works. By the way does this bot have prompt message when you already subscribed. Like "The UID you write already been subscribed" or we can used it both on laptop or mobile device? Cause some using laptop at home and when he uses his mobile he can also check it out for updates. Anyway great work, will tell you if something odd or came up from experiencing this bot.
